Venner Backpack Design History
Since 2019, Venner has been dedicated to selling high-quality wallets. However, as time went by, we realized that it was necessary to evolve. Although wallets are still a viable and competitive product, we knew that staying only in that segment would limit us. We were looking for a way to expand our catalog, but we were not sure where to go. The question was: do we continue betting on leather products or do we explore the design part more?
What attracts our customers the most is the innovation we offer, and with that in mind, we developed a new philosophy: creating products that help people organize their daily lives . With this clear idea, we decided to take the next step and design our own backpack following the values and essence of Venner.
Research and Selection of Materials
Once the idea took shape, we started looking for suppliers in Vietnam, Mexico, Malaysia, and China . We focused on finding the best quality and durability to ensure our backpack offered a premium experience. After comparing prices and materials, we opted for heavy-duty nylon for being waterproof and highly durable , as well as giving it an aesthetic finish. We also selected waterproof zippers to make the backpack completely water-resistant, ensuring it was ideal for both everyday use and travel.
Deep Market Research
We took the research phase very seriously. We watched over 100 YouTube videos about different backpacks on the market to identify the most relevant trends and understand what aspects stood out or were missing in each model. In addition, we purchased over 15 backpacks from different brands to thoroughly evaluate them and study every detail in materials, design and functionality.
As part of this process, we conducted a focus group with potential customers to identify their needs and expectations for an ideal backpack. This research allowed us to understand what our users were looking for and how we could offer a backpack that not only met those needs, but exceeded them. From this analysis phase emerged a design that was thought out down to the smallest compartment , ensuring that each element fulfilled a specific function.
Functional Design in Detail
In February 2024 , we began designing our backpack under Venner’s philosophy: each compartment should have a clear purpose. We added a secret, quick-access passport pocket , perfect for travel. We designed a special compartment for glasses with anti-scratch protection and another for laptops or tablets with extra padding on the back to ensure the safety of the devices.
We also included a mesh-organized charger slot, a hidden AirTag pocket, and side compartments to store keys or essentials. Plus, we added a back strap to attach it to your carry-on, keeping frequent travelers in mind.
Supplier Selection and Production
In May 2024 , after reviewing different options, we selected our supplier and defined all the costs. We decided to work with a Mexican supplier, as we wanted to foster a close, value-based relationship, which would also guarantee us a more personalized service.
After several revisions, we made more than five samples to fine-tune every detail of the backpack and adjust its sizes until we got the perfect design. We made sure that the backpack was both functional and aesthetic, aligned with the quality standards we always strive for at Venner.
Market Launch
Finally, in the summer of 2024 , we decided that we had the ideal final product. In August , we began mass production, and on September 18 , we officially launched the Venner Backpack to the market. The response has been incredibly positive. We have received feedback confirming that we managed to create a product that is not only practical, but also aesthetically pleasing and designed to improve our customers’ daily organization.
We are proud that our backpack is made in Mexico , which reflects our commitment not only to innovation and quality, but also to strengthening national production and maintaining close and transparent relationships with our suppliers.
